Women Crush Wednesday: Lori Sutherland

Hello! I’m Lori Sutherland and I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother, auntie, “Grani”, and friend!  My heart is for families, and over the years I have taught parenting classes, the majority being classes for women.  I am fortunate to be able to deliver a message that is grace-filled and life-giving to moms! My heart has grown because of the beautiful mothers that I get to know!

Tell KML about yourself and your heart for women?

I feel that it is important for women to know that they are valued and loved, most simply, because we cannot give to others what we do not possess ourselves. There are people in this world who need to know the love of God and the value He has placed on their lives! Fear, insecurity, and lack can turn our eyes inward and hinder our peace, acceptance, and enjoyment of life. When we know our worth, we can live the full life our good Father intended, and be freer to love others.

Why is it important for every woman to feel valued and worthy of love?

I feel that it is important for women to know that they are valued and loved, most simply, because we cannot give to others what we do not possess ourselves. There are people in this world who need to know the love of God and the value He has placed on their lives! Fear, insecurity, and lack can turn our eyes inward and hinder our peace, acceptance, and enjoyment of life. When we know our worth, we can live the full life our good Father intended, and be freer to love others.

How do you cultivate a sense of worthiness and value in your life?

I cultivate a sense of worthiness and value in my own life by spending time in God’s word and asking Holy Spirit to be my teacher.  Believing what God says to be true, I can know that He formed me in my mother’s womb, that He called His creation good, that He gives me a future and a hope, and He is working all things together for my good! The love that God has poured out through Jesus, and by giving us His Spirit conveys the magnitude of value God places on each one of us!

Small group time is an important part of class where women can build relationships.  A supportive community is fertile ground for growth, encouragement, and the gift of friendship!

If you could give your 20 year old self advice, what would it be?

If I could give my 20 year-old-self advice, it would be to be kind to
yourself, and “love the skin you’re in”. Sure, do all you can to be your best, and then give the rest to God! I would also teach myself more about nutrition and less about dieting.

What do you love to do with your free-time?

I love to spend my free time with family and friends, especially playing with my grands! I love paddle boarding, bike riding, gardening, reading, and my Labradoodle, Bibi!
